Adjusting for binding

If you are binidng the edges of a garment that was designed with a 5/8" seam allowance, your garment will fit better if you trim away all or most of that seam allowance before you add the binding.  Normally that seam allowance would be taken up in sewing in the lining/facings and then trimmed to about half the width before turning the garment to the right side.
