Using striped fabrics

I love to use striped fabrics in quilts and clothing.  One of my favorite uses is as binding.  Cut on the bias, stripes add a lot of interest.  On a jacket, I cut the binding pieces from doubled fabric so that I end up with stripes that flow in opposite directions - half the amount I need in each direction.  I piece the 2 directions, then sew them together at the center back neckline.  I sew from there to near center back hem and repeat for the other side, join the ends and finish.
