Creating an illusion

One way to create the illusion of a smaller waist in a jacket is to place darker fabrics at the sides.  If possible, create a shallow "V" pointing toward center front or back using a black or other dark fabric.  This will minimize the space at your side and draw the eye to the color at center front and back.
