Beautiful bags can be made by using a large scale print tie as the focal point.  To prolong the life of the bag, stabilize the tie fabric by fusing a light-weight interfacing to the back before cutting and piecing.  Use your favorite simple bag pattern and construct the main pieces from pieced-together neckties.  Piece to a stable foundation or quilt the pieces before constructing the bag.
