Lining an unlined jacket

Making a simple lining for an jacket made with a pattern for an unlined jacket is fairly easy.  If you have only the basic parts - front, back and sleeves - cut all from lining fabric and add a "facing" to the front pieces.  Cut two 6" x length of the front pieces, turn one long edge under 1/4" and sew in place over the center fronts.  Trim to fit front shape.  For a princess style, use the front piece to cut facings and cut the back, side pieces and sleeves from lining.  Assemble as the jacket and either sew in right sides together (leaving sleeve ends open to turn the jacket) or pin wrong sides together and finish raw edges with binding.
