Gather your red and blue ties, mix in a white fabric of your choice, and create a patriotic quilt or garment.  If you don't have a "flag" tie, there are plenty of cotton prints available now.  Make a simple pattern with the tie fabrics - pinwheel star, flying geese, small log cabins, etc. - and border the whole piece with a patriotic print.  Or make a skirt or vest with the ties...
