Using bright ties

If you have enough of them, bright-colored ties make eye-catching garments.  For example, I collected bright green, blue, purple, and turquoise ties to make pieced fabric for the body of a jacket.  Because the colors were nearly the same value (mediums), they worked well together.  They were cut into 1 1/4" to 2" strips and sewn together lengthwise.  Stabilize the ties first with starch alternative or very sheer (and soft) interfacing before cutting for best results.
