Pressing seams in clothing

Unlike in patchwork, most seams in clothing are pressed open to reduce the bulk and make them less visible.  There are exceptions, of course, such as the armhole/sleeve seam, seams attaching a yoke, an unseamed piece to a pieced section.  Gentle inside curves should generally be clipped to help the fabric lie flat when pressed open.
