Seams in a casual shirt

The most secure seam style for a casual shirt is some version of a flat-fell seam.  This can be difficult to do on the armhole seam, however.  As an alternative, you can sew the seam (right sides together as usual), press the seam toward the sleeve and then topstitch 1/8" - 1/4" from the seam over the seam allowances.
