Adding length to a jacket

Jackets are fairly easy to lengthen by adding 2-4" at the hemline.  On an unfitted jacket, this is easy as there is no shaping to consider.  However, if you are lengthening a waist-length jacket, be sure to add width if necessary to accomodate your hip proportions.  Side seams can be tapered from above the waist to a wider hemline.
