Sleeves of ties

A unique sleeve to add to a blouse is one made of neckties.  For matching sleeves, cut washed and opened neckties (points intact) in half and trim all pieces to the same shape.  Use enough ties to give you the width needed for your sleeve pattern.  Sew together lengthwise (see December 15 entry) to make 2 pieces.  Adjust your sleeve pattern to make the side seams straight rather than angled - this will make the most of your neckties and create a dramatic sleeve.  The tips of the ties are the bottom of the sleeve, so if your pattern has a cuff, be sure to allow extra for that length.
