A coordinated set of ties will make a beautiful garment, but sometimes you don't have enough of them to complete the project.  Stretch the ties by adding a silk fabric to the mix - one that will blend with the collection.  Silk dupioni is one of my favorites, but charmeuse or other heavier silks would also work beautifully and can be quilted easily.
