Matching design at center front

It is often desirable to have a pattern or design match at the center front of a garment that buttons.  In order to do this, it is usually easier to cut the fronts separately.  Find the center front on the pattern piece (usually 5/8" from the front seam).  On both the left and right fronts, the center front line should be placed on exactly the same line in the fabric design.  Use the hemline and neckline to help align the pattern on the vertical repeat and the center front line to align on the horizontal design repeat.  Cut one piece from the right side and the other with the pattern piece reversed.
