Choosing colors for clothing should be a little different from choosing colors for a quilt.  For clothing, you want to stay within a limited value range and limited area of the color wheel.  I find it easiest to choose one "theme" fabric and choose the rest of my fabrics around that.  An accent color can usually be found in the "theme" that can be added in a small amount.
