Lining a quilted jacket

Though I normally prefer a slippery lining for jackets (polyester, acetate, silk, etc.), sometimes it is more convenient to use a cotton or rayon.  If you are planning to construct a jacket from quilted fabric, plan ahead and use a backing that has some glide, such as a cotton or rayon batik.  Then you can finish any exposed seam edges with Hong Kong binding and construct your jacket, finishing with a bound outer edge.
