Clothing seam allowances

For quilters venturing into clothing, it is helpful to be aware of the difference in normal seam allowances.  Most clothing is constructed with a 5/8" seam allowance.  This is not only more secure than the 1/4" used in patchwork, but also allows a bit of room to sew a slightly narrower seam allowance for a roomier fit if needed.
