Wash to set dyes

Recycled ties that will be used for a washable item - quilt or gament - should always be treated to remove and set any loose dyes.  Silk ties are especially likely to have unset dyes.  I always wash any ties before they are added to my collection for use.  I add 2 products to my wash water - a dye-absorbing sheet to collect any loose dyes in the washing, and a small amount of Retayne (TM) to set the remaining dyes so they don't bleed again.
