Balance in a jacket

When designing patchwork for a jacket, remember to consider the balance of color and pattern if you are not making identical or mirror image pieces.  This especially matters when making the fronts.  Design can balance vertically, horizontally (across the pieces), or diagonally.  For a diagonal example, consider a pocket on one side balanced against a similar design on the opposite shoulder.
