Make your own quilted fabric

Most patchwork garment patterns can be used to make your own unlined quilted-fabric garment.  When directions call for patchwork to be constructed on a foundation, use batting (or flannel) with your chosen lining as a backing and quilt each garment piece separately.  Then cut to pattern size, finish the seam edges with Hong Kong finish (or serged edges), assemble, and bind outer edges.
