Facings for jackets

When you want a lining to look as good as its jacket, add facings from the jacket fabric around all the edges.  The front edges are faced with a piece at least 4” wide that extends to the shoulder, or – if making a princess style – is cut from the front pattern piece.  The back lining is commonly faced with a curved piece that echoes the neckline and is about 4” wide.  The 4” wide pieces can be topstitched over the lining pieces for simplicity of construction.
