Unlined quilted garments
The seams of an unlined quilted garment need to be finished neatly. The best way I know is a Hong Kong binding: Cut bias strips 1 1/4" wide and piece together. Right sides together, sew to the outside of the cut garment piece in 1/4" seam. Turn to the lining side and stitch in the ditch from the outside with a short stitch. Trim the excess bias strip close to the stitching (about 1/8"). Then assemble your garment. Press seams open.
