Choosing batting for quilted clothing

Batting for quilted clothing should be chosen carefully.  You want a soft batting that will drape, yet hold its shape and not bunch up or be too stiff.  I like to use a thin cotton or bamboo batting without scrim.  If you plan to wash the garment, I recommend that you preshrink the batting to preserve the garment size.  I have also used a very thin polyester batt designed for clothing that yields satisfactory results.
