Silk neckties make such wonderful dimensional appliques.  The easiest application I can think of is to make yoyo flowers from silk neckties.  Crepe myrtle is abundant in our tropical paradise and comes in a variety of shades including gold, coral, pink, lavender and red, and would lend itself to portrayal in small yoyo's.  There are also books of oriental folded flowers that could be lovely in silks.
