It's hard to think about ties in the tropics, but you could always plan to wear one (or more) in a garment.  Think bright colors and decorate a light-weight cover with pieces from neckties.  Create a tropical applique to dress up a pocket, yoke, shirt back, etc.  Or dress up the outer facings of my "Summer Breeze" cover-up with a Crazy Patch in ties!
