Adjusting length

Garments with straight side seams can be adjusted at the hemline without disturbing the fit.  However, garments with princess shaping must be adjusted above the waistline:  fold a tuck in the pattern to shorten for petites; cut and spread the pattern to lengthen for taller figures.  Most patterns have a line indicated, at right angles to the grainline, where these adjustments should be made.
