Idea for a silk tie

Here's an idea for a soft silk necktie:  After washing and dismantling, cut the tips off and cut the tie down to one width.  Save the scraps from the wide end for another use.  Fuse narrow strips (1/2" wide) of fine interfacing to the long edges. Right sides together, sew the long edges together in a 1/4" seam.  Turn and press with the seam in the middle of one side.  Gather down the middle and sew to the neckline of a sweatshirt (or other collarless)jacket, matching centers, for a ruffled trim.
