Sizing a quilted jacket

If you are making a quilted jacket with a pattern that isn't necessarily quilted, make some sizing allowances.  First, use a pattern that has standard 5/8" seam allowances for maximum flexibility.  Then cut most of the pattern to a size larger than you might normally wear.  However, use the same shoulder seam and sleeve cap (top of sleeve) as your normal size.  This will give you more room in the sides and armholes while preserving the bust placement.  Baste the jacket together before finalizing seams, in case you need to make adjustments.
