Prewash washable fabrics

This is another do-as-I-say, not as...moment.  If you are making clothing from washable fabrics, wash the fabric before cutting and sewing.  This will serve two purposes - washing out the sizing and extra dye if there is any and preshrinking.  If this makes the fabric hard to handle, you can use spray starch (or alternative) as you press the fabric after washing.
