Foundation piecing ties

Unless you are very confident working with slippery fabrics, you will probably want to piece any necktie quilt blocks or clothing sections on a foundation for better control.  For clothing, I prefer to use muslin or batiste for a foundation since only need a few guidelines need to be marked.  For garments, I cut my foundations about 1/2" outside the normal cutting lines to allow for shrinkage with piecing.  For quilt pieces, I prefer to use paper foundations if I plan to hand quilt.  Muslin or batiste foundations can be marked with a transfer pen if you choose that route.
